If you take a few moments to imagine your perfect future in great detail, what does it look like? Have you ever sat down and thought about what you want your life to look like in 5, 10, 15, 50 years from now?
The task seems daunting if you have never really thought about what you want, but know this: if you want to end up in a life you truly love waking up to each day, then you need to either be happy following the lead of others and taking orders, or you need to start planning the life YOU want to live.
The best way to make sure your life becomes what you want it to be someday is to commit to consistent daily action towards its attainment. But, before you dive into action you have to first figure out what it is you really want in life, who you want to be, what you want to accomplish.
The first step in building your perfect future is deciding what our perfect future is.
Every structure has to first start with a blue print, and picturing what we want will serve as our blueprint.
Imagine yourself in 20, 30, or 40 years: what is your health like, what have you accomplished, what awards and accolades have you received, how much money do you make, how is your family life, what do you own, how do people see you, and how do you feel about yourself?
The important thing in this exercise is to imagine what we want, and what our PERFECT future looks like. Do not let your mind focus on what you THINK you can obtain, but instead focus on what you really want.
For example: if we picture ourselves as a budding entrepreneur, yet we know nothing about business, then we need to start directing a large amount of energy into learning what we need in order to become an entrepreneur.
Basically, the second action is always looking inward and asking ourselves “Where do I need the most improvement?, What do I need to learn or go through to become ____?”
Third, we need to start taking action.
Now you have seen your perfect future, you know where you need the most improvement and what some of your obstacles might be; now its time to start growing.
Action can be so many different things, just a few options for personal growth or improvement are: workshops, businesses, competitions, books, videos, courses, schooling, internships, advice from experts, private lessons or coaching.
The big take away from step 3 is this: Get out there and start growing, learning, improving, and getting better.
Don’t worry about failure; failure is not only likely it is necessary for you to grow, but it is required- failure creates growth.
The important part is to get out and start doing the things you need to do in order to learn, grow, and improve. 100% of the people who don’t ever get off of the couch will NEVER start their dream business or lose 100lbs.
Just get started.
The final major step in success is holding yourself accountable and self review.
We all need to develop a spirit of self awareness where we examine ourselves closely.
There will be times where we need to adjust our trajectories, because our future goals have changed; there will be times we need to adjust our daily actions, because they have become inconsistent with our future goals; and, there will be times where we need to push through the adversity that is holding us back from our perfect future.
You must learn to listen to your inner voice of reason, ask yourself daily, “Are my actions today taking me closer to the person I want to become and the future I want to obtain”?. If you can answer this question honestly then you will know if you are on the right path or not.
Its really that simple to get your dreams to come true.
Envision them in great detail, set goals and make priorities, start taking action towards personal growth, hold yourself accountable and keep yourself on course.
There are a million different ways that we can influence our futures through positive thinking, taking deliberate action, expanding our horizons, networking, and pushing our comfort boundaries, but here is the blueprint to your success.
Figure out what you want and go after it as if your life depends on it, because some day you will be lying on a bed and thinking about either: everything you did in life, or everything you wish you had done.
