You can have the body that you have always wanted and dreamed of, and there is only one catch, you have to be willing to put in the work. I have heard so many people exclaim that they don’t have good genetics or that they can’t eat healthy, but all statements like these really say is that you haven’t even tried, that you have already decided you can’t do it. The same people who say phrases like these are usually the same people who try crash diets or give up after only one week of diet and exercise, they claim they have tried everything and they are destined for failure. There is no miracle weight loss secret; there is no diet pill to shed 30 lbs in 30 days; there is one way to achieve the body you have always wanted, it is hard work and dedication.
Genetics are real. We all have predetermined genetic make ups that contribute to many factors of our health and bodies. Some people carry a higher risk of cancer or other diseases, some people have a higher risk of obesity, some people have a higher chance of being thin; others, bulky. Genetic predisposition is not a definitive sentence, just because you have a higher risk of cancer in your family does not mean you WILL get cancer, it just means you need to avoid other contributing factors and take a proactive stance in your health (exercise, proper diet, regular health screenings, avoiding carcinogens and harmful chemicals). Having people in your family that are overweight does not mean you have to be overweight, but it might mean that you have to work harder to be thin than someone who is predisposed to being thin.
We often don’t get to chose what we are given in life; the families we are born into and the experiences we have at a young age are largely out of our control; however we can chose as adults what decisions we make. We can decide that we will be fit, or that we will have the bodies that we always wanted. We can chose to live our dreams, but the cost is the sacrifice and hard work along the way. Some people can workout three days a week and see significant change in their bodies, others need to workout twice a day five days a week. You don’t get to decide how much work it takes to get your dream body, but you can decide that you are going to have your dream body no matter what, no matter what the cost, no matter how hard it gets. We don’t get to control all the factors and unknowns, but we get to control how we react to adversity, and how we stand when times get tough.
Start removing bad foods from your diet and start adding better choices into your diet; start exercising; start lifting weights; start walking, running, sprinting. If you don’t start changing your habits and behaviors you won’t change at all. Start reading about health and fitness, start surrounding yourself with positive influences, start reading motivational articles or books everyday. Create an environment of faith to spur your personal growth.
If you want to have the body of your dreams, it is within your reach, it can be done. If you decide that you will have it no matter what and start taking positive action, you will get closer to your dream everyday and eventually you will get there. You will have to adjust and adapt, you will learn new things along the way, you will have to change your diet and workouts, it will be hard, it will be a challenge, it might be the hardest thing you have ever done, but eventually you will achieve it. I am sure many people will disagree with this article, they will proclaim how unfair and untrue it is, they will site all the reasons that they can’t lose weight…for a very small number of people these reasons might actually be true; however, for the vast majority reading this article the only thing stopping you from losing weight is your laziness, your lack of action, your lack of willpower, and your lack of belief…it might not be PC, and it might not be what you want to hear, but it IS the truth.
